Biography
Dr Anas Alawawdeh is a medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Windsor Gardens and Icon Cancer Centre Adelaide. In 2008 he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the University of Jordan and subsequently undertook surgical oncology training at the King Hussein Cancer Centre in Amman, Jordan. Relocating to Australia in 2012, Dr Alawawdeh undertook postgraduate training at Lyell McEwin Hospital and completed specialist oncology training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre.
He maintains a strong interest in clinical research and clinical trials, recently completing a gastrointestinal cancer clinical fellowship at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. During his fellowship Dr Alawawdeh coordinated several early clinical trials of novel targeted therapies and immunotherapies in different tumour types. Dr Alawawdeh is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a member of several leading national and international clinical cancer trials groups.
His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with special interest in gastrointestinal cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and melanoma. Dr Alawawdeh can converse in Arabic and looks forward to working with patients in their language.
